Whitefish girls win close game over Bigfork

Whitefish held off a late comeback by Bigfork to seal a 48-42 victory in a Class A Western Division matchup in Bigfork Tuesday night.

The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 25-13 lead by halftime but the Vals made it a game by pulling to within three points with a minute left.

"We had some chances at the end but couldn't get it done," Bigfork coach Nate Hammond said.

Kyla Salisbury had 13 points to lead Whitefish, with Kristen Blackburn and Katie Cain both adding 11. Hannah Hilley was top scorer for Bigfork with 13 and Beth Bermel had 12 points, including three 3-pointers.

Whitefish moved to 3-1 in conference play, while Bigfork drops to 4-4 overall and 0-3 in conference.
