The community is invited to welcome to the crowning of the 46th King Ullr and Queen of the Snows for the Whitefish Winter Carnival at 6 p.m. today at the Whitefish train depot.

Free chili and hot drinks will be available.

Some of the carnival's past royalty will provide entertainment.

Casino Night benefits children's causes

A no-limit Texas Hold 'em Casino Night gets under way today to benefit the Montana Hope Project and the Kalispell Exchange Club.

Registration is from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the WestCoast Outlaw Hotel convention room with a $100 donation buy-in. Play gets under way at 9 a.m.

The Montana Hope Project is sponsored by the Montana Highway Patrol and raises funds to grant last wishes to terminally ill children.

The Kalispell Exchange Club is a national civic organization whose main project is the prevention of child abuse. It also donates "Freedom Shrines" to be displayed in public buildings. At the local level, the Club also recently installed the "Evolution of Law" display at the Flathead County Courthouse.

Players will have the chance to win up to $5,000 in cash prizes with $1,500 or a trip to Las Vegas for two for the winner.

Spectators are welcome for a $5 admission charge. There will also be raffles and drawings during the event. For more information, call 752-2000.
