Michael Hugh Patrick DeVaan, 50

Michael Hugh Patrick DeVaan, 50, passed away on Jan. 16, 2005, in Kalispell, after a long illness.

He was born on March 16, 1954, in Barnard, Minn., and raised in Aberdeen, S.D. He served with the U.S. Army.

In 1974, he married Karen Ryman in Aberdeen. They moved to Bigfork, in 1975, and were married for 14 years.

Michael attended Flathead Valley Community College.

He was involved in real estate and construction work.

Michael loved sailing, motorcycles, dancing and music of all kinds.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan DeVaan.

Michael is survived by his father, Bob DeVaan, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; his son, Matthew DeVaan, of Lakeside; daughter, Jessica (DeVaan) McGee of Bigfork; brothers and sisters, Denise DeVaan and Kevin DeVaan, both of Minneapolis, Tim DeVaan of Indianapolis, Debbie (DeVaan) Hadel of Overland Park, Kan., and Dominic DeVaan of Waconia, Minn.; two grandsons, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation has taken place.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. Lunch will follow at 263 Ashley Meadows Road.
