Polson rolls by Mission

POLSON - Polson clamped down defensively on Mission for the final three periods en route to a 44-24 non-conference girls basketball victory Tuesday evening.

Polson, 6-4 overall and 2-2 in Northwestern A, broke away from a 14-10 first period advantage for a 24-15 lead at the half.

Polson then outscored Mission 20-9 in the final half.

"I was pleased (with our effort)," said Polson coach Bruce Thomas.

"I thought we played our level of basketball. We didn't get ragtag."

Strohm Fouty led the way for Polson with 16 points and eight steals. Kara Huyser had eight points and two blocked shots. Kari Mowbray finished with nine points, 12 rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Ashley Mitchell hit 16 for Mission.

Polson plays at Class AA Missoula Big Sky on Thursday.
