Helen Marie Conrad, 95, passed away Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at Brendan House in Kalispell.

Helen Marie Conrad, 95

She was born Oct. 1, 1909, in Wilton, N.D., to Charles and Caroline (Swanson) Hansen. Helen was the youngest of six children. She moved from North Dakota to Spokane, then to Kalispell, prior to her marriage.

She married Werner Conrad on Nov. 12, 1931, in Polson. They moved to Marion, until 1949, when they moved back to Kalispell. She worked at Sutherland Cleaners.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and volunteered for the American Red Cross and Agency on Aging. She was recognized as a volunteer of the year several years. Helen enjoyed painting and gardening.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Werner Conrad, in March 1991; her grandson, Joel, in January 1998; and five brothers.

She is survived by one son, Charles Conrad with wife, Loretta; one daughter, Cherie Ellingson and husband, Edwin; four grandchildren, Scott Ellingson with wife, Janet, Clarke Ellingson and wife, Diane, Wade Conrad and wife, Star, and Todd Conrad and wife, Bobbie; also nine great-grandchildren, Ashley Ellingson, Emily Ellingson, Kayli Ellingson, Mitchell Ellingson, Jessica Conrad, Karley Conrad, Victoria Conrad, Christian Conrad, and Amber Conrad.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Private family burial will be at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

The family suggests memorials be given to Agency on Aging, 160 Kelly Rd, Kalispell, MT 59901, or Trinity Lutheran School, 400 West California Street, Kalispell, MT 59901.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary and Crematory.
