Polson wrestlers down Whitefish, C-Falls

POLSON - Third-ranked Polson handled two of its Northwestern A rivals Saturday, defeating No. 5 Whitefish 51-24 and No. 10 Columbia Falls 43-27.

Pirate 171-pounder Kevin Owen, ranked No. 1 in the state, picked up a pin against Whitefish (7-7) and a major decision versus Columbia Falls (8-7).

Aric Tarr, the Wildcats' second-ranked 119-pounder, picked up a decision over Colby Wolfenden, who was returning to action Saturday for Polson.

"We got one of our kids back," Pirates coach Bob Owen said. "Wolfenden has been out of the lineup, and we got a heavyweight eligible."

Tracy Seigfreid saw his first action of the season at heavyweight for Polson (17-3), picking up a forfeit win and pin loss.

"We're getting close to full strength," Bob Owen said. "If we get them all in the lineup and healthy we'll be pretty strong."

Polson is at Libby on Tuesday, a rematch of one of the Pirates' three dual losses. Whitefish visits the Loggers on Thursday and the Wildcats and Bulldogs square off Saturday in Columbia Falls.
