Mary Ann Ness, 82

Mary Ann Ness, 82, passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

She was born March 4, 1922, to Leonard and Caroline (Bundus) Vendeberg in Hinsdale. She moved to Havre, as a young girl and attended St. Jude's grade school and Havre High School.

Mary Ann spent most of her adult life in Havre. She married Joseph Ness on April 27, 1940, in Chinook. She later moved to Kalispell, in 1998, for health reasons and to be near her children.

Mary Ann enjoyed her family, friends, playing cards and bingo. She also loved spending time in the Bears Paw Mountains.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.

She is survived by her children, Joanne Ness of San Jose, Calif., Dick Ness of Rowlett, Texas, Jack Ness and wife, Sandy, of Kalispell, Daryl Ness and wife, Vicki, of Vancouver, Wash., and Jim Ness and wife, Lori, of Kalispell; five sisters, Vivian Sullins of Jackson, Miss., Charlotte Hertsgaard, of Havre, Rosella Gonder, of Rancho Cordova, Calif., Sharon Bennett, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Shirley Nelson of Bellevue, Wash.; and two brothers, Elvin Vandeberg, of Tacoma, Wash., and Donald Vandeberg of Coeur d'Alene. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mary Ann Ness will be held 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, at the Johnson Mortuary Chapel in Kalispell. At Mary Ann's request, there will be a private family visitation only. Burial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Hill County Cemetery in Havre.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the American Diabetes Association, 3203 Third Ave. North, Ste. 203, Billings, MT 59101-1945; or a charity of donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary and Crematory.
