Ferda, Whitefish sink Libby in OT

LIBBY - Ashley Ferda was a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line in overtime as Whitefish knocked off Libby 52-47 Friday in Northwestern A basketball play.

Whitefish (4-3 in league and 7-6 overall) outscored Libby (3-4, 8-5) 11-6 in the extra session. Eight of those points came from the free throw line.

Whitefish's Kirsten Blackburn hit a trey for the other points.

Ferda finished with 14 points. She was 9-of-10 free throw shooting for the night.

Erin Greiner led the Bulldogs with 19.

Nicole Rowan and Sarah Becker both tallied 13 to pace Libby.

Maidens pull away

from Columbia Falls

COLUMBIA FALLS - Ronan pulled away down the stretch to post a 60-48 Northwestern A girls basketball victory over Columbia Falls Friday night.

The contest was tied with 3 1/2 minutes remaining when the Maidens took charge. Jamie Lake, who tallied 19 points, drove the lane for a key bucket and it was all Ronan after that.

Ronan outscored Columbia Falls 21-11 in the final period.

Columbia Falls trailed by eight at the half, 32-24, and by two, 39-37, heading into the fourth period.

Jenna Toole, 15, and Kim Pearce, 10, paced Columbia Falls (2-3 league and 7-6 overall, offensively.

Crusaders take

MCAA title

HELENA - Flathead Valley Home School wrapped up the Montana Christian Athletic Conference girls basketball title Friday by beating Helena Christian School 47-28.

FVHS (5-0 in league games) was led by Charity Zemke's 21 points. Janelle Sheeran was next with 16.

The Crusaders led 26-16 at the half.

FVHS plays at Gallatin Valley Home School today.
