Winterfest kicks off

Head to Lakeside, Somers and Blacktail Mountain for Winterfest 2005. Activities will be offered all day long, beginning with a pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. at Lakeside Chapel. Try snow golf or sporting clays in town from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Blacktail Mountain plays host to skiing and snowboard races for the whole family. Enjoy free sledding, sleigh and dogsled rides from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Mackinaw's Grill hosts live music by Skunk Alley Song Factory beginning at 7:30 pm.

XMOD RC Races today in front of Radio Shack

The Kalispell Center Mall is hosting XMOD RC Races around a 10- by 20-foot track today in front of Radio Shack.

Bring your modified/custom stock remote control race cars and participate.

Warm-ups take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Racing is from 3 to 5 p.m.

Tedd Bear Picnic today at library

Flathead County Library, 247 First Ave. E. in Kalispell, invites you to their annual Teddy Bear Picnic at 11:30 a.m. today in the children's department.

All children attending will be eligible for the drawing for the grand prize bear.

The name for the department's big stuffed bear will be also be announced.

Whitefish Winter Carnival continues

Whitefish Winter Carnival events continue with the Enchanted Evening on Ice tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults; and $5 for students and available at Village Shop, Sprouts or Imagination Station. A disco party gets under way at 9 p.m. at the Dire Wolf Pub. Admission is $3 or free with a retro costume and carnival button.

Membership meeting and potluck tonight

Citizens for a Better Flathead host their 13th annual membership meeting, tonight at the Whitefish Armory, 305 Armory Road. A members meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. with a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m., followed by games, activities and music. All are welcome to attend. Call 756-8993 for more information.
