The first full-service resort built in Whitefish in two decades will open this summer on Whitefish Lake.

Construction is on schedule for The Lodge at Whitefish Lake, which will feature a restaurant and lounge overlooking the lake, 77 suites and 8,000 square feet of conference space.

It's located south of the Whitefish Lake Lodge condominiums off Wisconsin Avenue.

"It's going well, and they're looking at summer completion," said Carol Edgar of Edge Communications. "They're working on the roof and once it's on, that gives opportunities to set the rest of the [construction] schedule."

Designed by CTA Group and constructed by Swank Enterprises, the chalet-style style lodge will feature a 6,366-square-foot conference room, divisible by three, that adjoins a 1,474-square-foot pre-function area.

Groups can also choose a lakeside area, executive board room or private dining rooms. High-speed Internet access will be available throughout the facility, Edgar said.

The suites open onto private decks with lake or mountain views, and have kitchenettes with upscale furnishings such as granite counter tops, slate floors and stone fireplaces. They range from 532 to 2,476 square feet.

The lodge offers a private beach, year-round outdoor swimming pool and marina for boat and personal watercraft rentals.

Retail boutiques, a spa and underground parking are other amenities.

Cuisine for the restaurant hasn't been finalized yet, Edgar said.

Kristen Stern is director of sales and marketing. Brian Averill is the general manager. The lodge is owned by the Dan Averill family.
