Kalispell police are seeking information about the explosion of a homemade bomb in the yard of a home in the 1500 block of Fifth Avenue East on Wednesday night. Someone ignited a sparkler bomb attached to a camp-stove fuel canister, and the resulting explosion was "pretty big," said Police Chief Frank Garner. A white Honda Prelude with personalized license plates was seen leaving the scene at about 10:30 p.m.
Also sometime Wednesday night, someone threw a "Molotov cocktail" - a bottle with fuel with a lit rag as a fuse - through a window at a county building adjacent to the old courthouse on South Main. There was no fire, because the rag fuse got caught on the window.
There were at least four fireworks complaints across the city Wednesday and Thursday.
A man, 33, was arrested on a warrant from another jurisdiction near Fifth Avenue West and the railroad tracks Wednesday night.
A woman, 19, was arrested late Wednesday after a traffic stop on 18th Street West and Airport Road for resisting arrest, possessing drug paraphernalia, an outstanding warrant, having an expired registration and speeding.
Two juvenile girls were arrested after a traffic stop on West Idaho near the fairgrounds early Thursday morning. One girl, 15, was arrested for a curfew violation, and the other girl, 17, was arrested for being a minor in possession of alcohol.
There was a report of three or four men fighting near the Town Pump on Idaho. The disturbance had broken up when officers arrived.
A resident in the 300 block of Fifth Avenue West North reported that a man in a hooded sweatshirt was attempting to get in her back door early Thursday.
A house reportedly was egged by vandals in the 200 block of 10th Avenue West.
A global positioning satellite device, a walkie-talkie and a pistol were reported stolen from a pickup parked in an alley off the 100 block of First Avenue East.
Two men, ages 18 and 22, were arrested Thursday afternoon at Sykes' grocery for criminal trespass. The two had been warned to stay away from the store.
Three bikes were reported stolen from a rack outside an apartment building on the 200 block of Birchwood Court.
