Festival benefits Whitefish school
The Whitefish Arts Festival will bring nearly 100 artists from around the Northwest to Whitefish this weekend.
Metal sculptors, painters and photographers, woodworkers, potters and jewelers will display their work at the festival's new location in Depot Park in downtown Whitefish at the corner of Spokane Avenue and Railway Street.
Food vendors also will be on hand with everything from fresh squeezed lemonade to oriental food fare.
Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, live entertainment will feature David Walburn, the Alpine Theatre Project, Whitefish Dance and hula dancing.
The Whitefish Arts Festival is sponsored by Cross Currents Christian School, a nondenominational school in Whitefish which offers classes from pre-school through eighth grade.

Quilters display their best work
The Stumptown Quilt Society has a quilt show and sale today and Sunday at the Central School gym at the corner of Second and Railway streets. More than 150 quilts will be on display and many of them will be for sale.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $2 with proceeds going toward Whitefish Food Bank, Whitefish Fire Department, ALERT Emergency Services, Habitat for Humanity and the Shepherd's Hand Clinic.
