Lillian G. Thompson, 85
Lillian G. Thompson, 85, died peacefully of natural causes Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell.
She was born at the family home on 4th Avenue E.N. in Kalispell, on June 19 1920, to Monroe and Margaret Spink. Lillian was the fourth of five children, and she enjoyed the close and enduring ties with her brother, Bill, and her three sisters, Mary, Mable "Burma," and Peggy, and their families.
The Spink family homesteaded in Swan Lake and as a family, lived at the original Teakettle Ranger Station north of Columbia Falls, then to Kalispell, then to Libby and back to Kalispell, all before Lillian started her education and years of growing up with family and lifelong friends.
Lillian and Tommy Thompson were married on Oct. 6, 1945, and made their home in Kalispell. Lillian worked hard raising her four girls, loving Tommy and making a wonderful home for them. As charter members of the Grizzly Century Club, Tommy and Lillian enjoyed going to the Grizzly games in Missoula as well as going to games as far away as Hawaii. Both Lillian and Tommy enjoyed their many friends whether it was at the bridge table, golf course, Grizzly games, and neighborhood block parties or over a nice dinner in their home.
Some of her best memories were the summers at the cabin on Flathead Lake. The 4th of July was always a great family and friend reunion. Lillian had a great sense of responsibility to her family, neighborhood, church and community. She was a longtime member of her church prayer group and her generosity was well known by so many.
Lillian was preceded in death by husband, Tommy Thompson; mother, Margaret Wright; father and step-mother, Monroe and Mary Spink; brother, William Bradbury; brother-in-Law, A.D. Stillman; niece, Donna Reesman; and great-nephew, Gordon Graham.
