Eagle Bend, Whitefish Lake host Governors' Cup
Over 300 business and government leaders from Montana and around the nation are registered to play in the Montana Chamber Foundation's 17th Annual Governors' Cup golf tournament today through Saturday.
Play will be over two courses, Eagle Bend and Whitefish Lake South Course, on Friday and Saturday with an optional practice round scheduled for both locations today.
Governor Brian Schweitzer and most of the state's former governors are scheduled to appear and welcome participants from Canada and locations as far away as the Washington D.C., Florida, Texas and California.
Proceeds from this annual event help support the High School Business Challenge, a Chamber Foundation program administered by the Montana Council on Economic Education that introduces entrepreneurial skills to hundreds of the state's high school students.
The top three High School Business Challengers winners this year are teams from Billings Career Center, Petra Academy, Bozeman and Billings Skyview respectively. Students, teachers and parents from these top finishing schools are scheduled to receive awards and recognition at a Governors' Cup Grouse Mountain Lodge Pavilion celebration on this evening.
In addition to helping Montana's High School Students, Webb Brown, President of the Montana Chamber of Commerce, says "the Governors' Cup is an excellent opportunity for existing and prospective business in the state to network and to explore new development possibilities that favorably impact the state's growing economy."
Next year's Governors' Cup is scheduled for August 3,4 & 5 at Eagle Bend and Meadow Lake Golf Club. Interested parties may obtain more information by calling (406) 442-2405 Ext. 105 or by going on line at www.montanachamber.com
