Anna C. Mebust, 96

Anna C. Mebust, age 96, "went to be with the Lord" on Friday, June 3, 2005. She was residing at the Brendan House at the time of her passing.

She was born in Arnegard, North Dakota on Aug. 31, 1908, to John and Elsie Leiseth. Anna attended business school in Fargo, North Dakota. In 1930 she went to Malta, Montana, "looking for excitement." She met Hans, who was a teller at the First State Bank of Malta, and they were married three years later.

Anna was a resident of the Flathead Valley since 1946. She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and was honored as a Valiant Women of Church Women United in 2001.Anna was preceded in death in 1976 by her husband Hans -- who was President of the First National Bank of Kalispell for 25 years; and her eldest son, Dr. Winston K. Mebust, who passed away in April. She is survived by her sons, Jim, a retired engineer in Maple Valley, Wash., and Leland, a newly retired Lutheran minister in Towson, Md.; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Anna will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2005, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Johnson Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at C. E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery, all in Kalispell, Montana.
