Frances Rose (Sapphire) Snyder, 78

Frances Rose (Sapphire) Snyder, 78, of Polson, passed away peacefully on Monday June 6, 2005, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

Frances was born Oct. 9, 1926, to William and Judith Markle in Camas.

William Worley was the first child born to Frances and Jack Worley. She later had three children, Omar, Judy, and Robert, with Omer Garrett. Frances was married to Vann Snyder and they raised a family and lived in Kalispell for 15 years. Vann then passed away.

Frances enjoyed living in Kalispell and was an active member in the Central Bible Church. She moved to Eureka with Ray DeShazer, her companion for 27 years. They owned and managed the VFW Bar for five years. They enjoyed Eureka and all their friends and family in the community.

They spent their winters at The Fountain of Youth Spa in Niland, Calif. Frances enjoyed all the activities that were offered at the spa, especially enjoyed attending church with Pastor Burch, sitting in the lobster pot, and playing cards with her friends. The Spa was the "fountain of youth" for Frances. It kept her in her youth and she was very healthy and active.

They moved to Polson, before Ray's passing, to be with her family.

Frances was a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribe and was a lifetime member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary.

Frances enjoyed knitting scarves and slippers, going to garage sales, playing cards, shopping, game shows, the news, her scanner, cleaning, eating at Kentucky Fried Chicken, and spending time with her family and friends. She was famous for always having a camera in her hand and her "fried chicken."

Frances is thankful that she was able to spend the last couple of months helping her sister get better and they were treasured moments for both of them.

Frances was very kind and generous to all of her friends and family. She always made you feel special with a "little something." She had wonderful friends and enjoyed spending time with all of them. Family was very important to her.

Her parents; brothers Jasper and Ted; sister Jean; and her beloved son, Robert, preceded Frances in death.

She is survived by two sons, William Worley and his wife, Sandy, of Polson, and Omar Snyder and his wife, Norma, of Hot Springs; a daughter, Judy Loberg, of Ronan; a sister, Bernice Goode, of Ronan; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous special relatives and friends.

A special thanks is given to Norma and Sandy for their excellent care while she was in the hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 10, at the Lonepine Community Hall. Interment will follow the service at the Murray Memorial Cemetery at Lonepine.
