A woman was caught shoplifting at Shopko Saturday afternoon and taken into custody by a Flathead County Sheriff's deputy.

On the week-end animal beat, a small black bear was seen heading for the cemetery near Shady Glen Drive, while another bear 'd1 this one of unknown color 'd1 was checking out the porch scene on Conrad Drive. A horse in the area of West Reserve Drive was minding its own business and going absolutely nowhere. Problem was it was doing that in the middle of the road.

A father on U.S. 93 South reported Saturday night that his juvenile son had just been assaulted.

A party with lots of juveniles and lots of alcohol was intercepted at a house on Smith Lake Road early Sunday morning. When deputies arrived, some of the youths ran away, while others tried to hide inside the residence.

Gunshots were heard Sunday morning near a farm equipment dealership on U.S. 2 West. Someone was shooting his gun off in the back yard and agreed to stop when asked to do so.

Columbia Falls police arrested a man for negligent endangerment early Sunday morning on First Street East.
