The Daily Inter Lake
A contested City Council race has developed in Kalispell's Ward 3, where two incumbents have filed.
Incumbent Ward 3 council member Jim Atkinson has filed for re-election and will face current Ward 4 council member Jayson Peters, who is moving to Ward 3.
With the June 30 deadline less than two weeks away, incumbent Kalispell Mayor Pam Kennedy remains unopposed for her post. Tim Kluesner has filed in Ward 4 and incumbent Hank Olson is unopposed in Ward 2.
Ward 1 has a two-way race between incumbent Bob Hafferman and Steve Davidson.
Kalispell Municipal Judge Heidi Ulbricht has filed for re-election and is the lone candidate in that race.
COLUMBIA FALLS still has a long way to go to fill its list of city vacancies.
The lone council candidate as of Friday afternoon was Harvey Reikofski, who was appointed last year to fill out Sam Hagen's term after Hagen moved out of the area.
Reikofski has filed for a four-year council term.
Four-year terms are open for seats held by Charles McCubbins, Jolie Fish and Tad Rosenberry, and two-year posts are open for seats currently held by Reikofski and Doug Karper.
Fish has filed for mayor and is the only candidate in that race.
FORMER WHITEFISH City Council member Shirley Jacobson filed this week for a four-year council term. She was defeated four years ago in her bid for re-election.
Nick Palmer is the only other council candidate who has filed with the county election department.
Whitefish council members Erik Garberg, Doug Adams and Mark Wagner are not seeking re-election.
In the Whitefish city judge race, incumbent Bradley Johnson faces Valarie Eve.
