Robert E. Hopkins, 61

Robert E. Hopkins, 61, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2005, at his home in Kalispell.

Robert was born on March 2, 1944, in Topeka, Kan., to Orwin and Ruth Bates.

He served as a 2nd lieutenant with the Army during Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism in ground combat.

Robert worked for Rocky Mountain Avianics, and owned his own business, R.E.H. Engineering, a computer engineering firm. He was a member of the VFW and the NRA. He loved music, truly enjoyed the outdoors, enjoyed photography, shooting sports, and was a computer nut.

He was preceded in death by his father, Orwin Hopkins, during World War II.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth Bates Matera and her husband, John Matera, of New Jersey; one brother, Danny Matera of New Jersey; and an uncle, Bernard Hopkins of Kansas.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home.
