Forrest Mills Davis

Forrest Mills Davis, 82, of Ronan, beloved husband, grandfather and friend, died June 23, 2005, in Portland, Ore.

Forrest was born at home in Flat Creek, Washington on July 23, 1922, to Albert Welington Davis and Zelia (Mills) Davis. Forrest grew up in Washington and served in World War II.

He married Charlene May Secrest in 1947. They had a ranch in Flat Creek where they raised two daughters.

They moved to Polson in 1972 to continue ranching. Forrest was a great horseman and shared that great love of horses with many other people.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Charlene, his stepson Danny Laird, three brothers, Fred, Frank and Arden; two sisters, Garland and Lucille; and a grandson, Shane Winnop.

He is survived by two daughters, Charlene Davis of Hayden Lake, Idaho and Candy (Pete) Weimer of Ronan; grandchildren, Callie Orien (Shane) of Polson, Chad Weimer (Angie) of Pablo; great grandchildren, Ashley Winnop of Jacksonville, Fla., Alexys Orien and Makaliah Wilson of Polson; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, June 29 and 30, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Grogan Funeral Home, Polson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1, at 3 p.m. at the New Life Christian Center in Polson. Burial will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery, Polson.
