Man sentenced on firearms charge
A 22-year-old Kalispell man was sentenced Thursday for being a felon in possession of a firearm after shooting in the Many Glacier Campground in Glacier National Park.
Christopher A. Lofgren, 22, was sentenced to two years and a month in federal prison, with three years of supervised release afterward.
Lofgren was convicted of burglary in Flathead District Court in January 2003. As a condition of his sentence, he could not possess firearms. Records show that he bought a shotgun just months later.
In June 2003, park rangers investigated complaints of shooting at the campground, where campers directed him to Lofgren's campsite. He had a New England Arms, model Palmer, 12-gauge single-shot shotgun and ammunition.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Paulette Stewart prosecuted this case for the United States.
The investigation was a cooperative effort of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Glacier Park rangers and Montana Probation and Parole.
