Vera E. McIntosh, 86

On March 3, 2005, "our mom," Vera E. McIntosh, 86 years old, passed away at Big Sky Care Center in Helena due to complications from a hip fracture.

She was born in Helena, on Jan. 15, 1919, to Frank and Anna Domain. She was a cook at numerous restaurants all her life and retired as cook from the Eagles Manor Care Center. She married C.J. McIntosh Feb. 6, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1989.

In addition to her husband, Vera was preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Mattmiller.

She is survived by her four children (three sons and a daughter): James and his wife, Florence, of Kalispell; John and companion, Carol, of Helena; Terry and wife, Patty, of Great Falls; and Mickey Cozzie and her husband, Jim, of Helena. Her grandchildren are Laurel, Craig, Brenda, April, Tessa, Samantha, Shane, Amber, Doug, Mike, David, Marni, Brad, Taunya, Justine, Terri, Zack, Constance and Caleb. Vera also is survived by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, two nieces, Barbara and Frank Capps of Surprise, Ariz.; and Evelyn and Dave Sauvageau of Three Forks; and numerous great nephews and nieces.

Vera enjoyed family gatherings, her friends, flowers in the summer time, and forever taking care of and feeding the wild birds with her homemade rendered suet and day-old donuts. Her family, lifelong friend, Dorothy, her Elliston friends, and her dog, Rodney, will all miss her very much.

Cremation services have taken place. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6-8 p.m. today, March 6, at the Retz Funeral Home. A private family service will be held at Retz Funeral Home, Monday, March 7.
