Lola Bell Chittim

Lola Bell Chittim, wife of Harold Chittim, formerly of Kalispell, passed away on March 6, 2005, at the Community Home Health Hospice Center in Longview, Wash., after a courageous five-year battle with cancer.

Lola was born on April 3, 1929, in El Dorado Springs, Mo., to William E. and Clara Bell (Ward) Brazell. She was married to Nathan Johnson on Feb. 14, 1946, and from this union had five children.

She married Harold Chittim on July 1, 1976. She was a professional cook and caregiver. She loved her family and being with her grandchildren. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, reading, being a homemaker and world traveler.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Harold Chittim; one son, Darrell Johnson of Astoria, Ore.; four daughters, Sharon Clemow of Houston, Texas, Jeanie Halverson of Astoria, Linda Thomas of Longview, Cathy and Ed Haupt of Longview; one stepson, Richard and Jeri Chittim of Corvallis, Ore.; four stepdaughters, Billie and Gordon Herron of Harrington, Wash., Annie and Steve Hill of Maple Valley, Wash., Phyllis and Al Lauckner of Moses Lake, Wash., and Mary and Stan Timperley of Vancouver, Wash.; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, 18 stepgrandchildren, 19 step great- grandchildren, and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren; five sisters, LaVeda and Thomas Hill of Chino Valley, Ariz., Jerrie Brazell of Ashland, Ore., Marie Roelofson, Helen Ward and Sydna Ornbaum, all of Porterville, Calif.; four brothers, Robert and Katie Brazell of Spirit Lakc, Idaho, Johnny and Lee Etta Brazell, Donald and Carolyn Brazell, all of Porterville, Eddie Brazell of Prescott, Ariz.; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one stepdaughter and one stepson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. David Jones of Columbia Falls Methodist Church, and Rev. Dave Merkel of Epworth United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
