Kalfell named MVP at WHS

Tessa Kalfell, 5-foot-8 senior guard, has been named the MVP of the Whitefish High School girls basketball team.

Kalfell was the team's leader in scoring at 12.8 points per game. She also led in assists, 99, and steals, 62.

Kristen Blackburn was named the Best Defensive Player; Erin Greiner and Kali Schmidt shared the Most Improved Award; Kyla Salisbury received the Hustle Award; Katie Cain picked up the Best Attitude Award; Cassady Gray-Contreras was named the Most Spirited Player; and Ashley Ferda was the Best New Player.

JJ Wram, Tayler Bertelsen, Tiffany Hensley and Kaitlin O'Leary received Coaches Award.

Greiner, 4.0 grade point average, Hensley, 4.0, Salisbury, 3.8, Kalfell, 3.5, and Blackburn, 3.5, were all named to the academic all-state squad.

Other statistical leaders for the Bulldogs were: Tracy Schwada - leading rebounder, 148, and blocked shot leader, 48; Ferda - free throw percentage leader, 61.0, and three-point shot percentage leader, 38.0; and Greiner - field goal percentage leader, 48.0.
