Sex offender sentenced to 10 years

A designated sexual predator was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday.

Wilbur Rytky was arrested in Whitefish, shortly after moving from Maine, where he was convicted of violent sexual offenses against children.

Whitefish police took the unusual step of warning residents, schools, day cares and other law-enforcement agencies when Rytky, 30, arrived in town in February 2004.

"You don't run into a sexually violent predator very often," said Whitefish Police detective Lt. Roger Bergstrom

Shortly after he arrived, Rytky reportedly molested a 16-year-old mentally challenged boy.

He admitted sexually assaulting the boy while giving him a ride home from work at a fast-food restaurant. He took the boy to a rural local northwest of Whitefish and molested him. The teenager told a teacher, who notified authorities.

District Judge Ted Lympus sentenced Rytky to the maximum sentence and suspended none of it.
