Flathead students present play on life
Flathead students present play on life, love and faith The Flathead High School theater department explores life, love, guilt and the importance of faith in the middle of a three-ring circus in "J.B.," presented tonight and Saturday at 7 p.m. in the David M. Hashley Theatre.
Written by Archibald McLeish, "J.B." is a contemporary telling of the biblical book of Job.
Through the life of banker-millionaire J.B., the play portrays a man who is stripped of his family, his riches and his health, yet refuses to turn his back on God. This drama speaks to the way in which faith is maintained in a world often filled with suffering.
"This play is the classic tale of Job, an enormous test of faith and the question of guilt, but ultimately its theme is love," said director and Flathead senior Erin McGarvey. "This play is written completely in poetry making it one of the most beautiful plays I have ever read."
To add a twist to the production, the students have changed the original setting of the play to that of a traveling circus.
From script selection to the curtain call, Acting IV "Advanced Acting Ensemble" gives students the opportunity to produce a play at all stages.
The cast of "J.B." includes Katrina Kimmel, Scott Davis, Ryan Shearer, Joe Drury, Kim Cowan, David Brabham, Miles Fortenberry, Summer Rose, Petie Booth, Laura Arvidson, Kelsey Steinbeck, Allison Eudy, Terra Marotz, Peter Rasmussen, Zeb Matteson, Kelly Ruby, Nikki Evans, Melanie Jerger, Melissa Lake, Leeta Thomas, Cameron Maxwell, Emmalee McLellan and Alena Fleming.
Tickets are available at Herberger's and the Flathead High School main office and are priced at $6 for adults and $5 for children, students and senior citizens.
