The Whitefish City Council will hold a public hearing tonight to consider an amended development plan for North Valley Hospital.

The hospital wants to alter its site plan to allow for a 10-lot medical office subdivision.

In other business, the council will hold a public hearing on a sign variance request from Greg Carter for a new building at 307 Spokane Ave.

He's proposing the use of several smaller building-mounted signs instead of a single large mounted sign.

The council will consider authorizing the use of civil action in the collection of resort-tax revenue from businesses that routinely violate payment deadlines.

Also up for discussion is a proposal to establish a "no preferences" policy for awarding city contracts.

Past councils have favored a preference for local businesses and individuals, but recent council discussion broached the idea of a no-preference policy.

The council meets at 7:10 p.m. at Whitefish City Hall.
