Children's class lives on Flathead stage

| May 20, 2005 1:00 AM

C.S. Lewis' beloved children's novel "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" comes to life at Flathead High School in a magical theater production on May 26-27 at 7 p.m. in the David M. Hashley Theatre.

The Advanced Theatre Arts class recreates the fantastical journey through the wardrobe and into the land of Narnia.

The story of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" begins as four children are sent to England to live with an eccentric professor. The adventures for Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy begin when they walk through the wardrobe and into the land of Narnia.

There they find an enchanted world where it's "always winter and never Christmas," where the White Witch rules over her evil regime with a cold hand. The children can only hope that Aslan, the Great Lion, will return to Narnia and restore beauty and peace to the land. But will the power of Aslan be enough to conquer the dark magic of the White Witch?

As part of their Advanced Theatre Arts Class students not only bring the characters to life through their acting, but are also responsible for the various behind-the-scenes components of the production process.

The students have directed the play, created the sets and costumes, designed the lighting and brought the characters to life through their animated acting skills.

The cast of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" includes Laura Arvidson, Ashley Danno, Chelsea Eickert, Natasha Eickert, Adam Finch, Wes Hilton, Ben Kuehne, Nicholas Malinak, Cameron Maxwell, AJ Noe, Kamille Phillips, Peggy Potter, Peter Rasmussen, Katy Read, Kim Suarez and Tiffany Zellmer.

Behind the scenes, Brandon Shirtliff, Riata Booky, Evan Tice, Amanda Miller, Scotty Davis, Elizabeth Harball, Hailey Adney and David Brabham make up the stage, lighting and sound crew.

The student director is Peter Rasmussen.

Tickets are available at Herberger's and the Flathead High School main office. Prices are $6 for adults and $5 for children, students and senior citizens.

Seating is limited; people are encouraged to get their tickets early.
