John Eyth Krapf, 82

John Eyth Krapf, 82, a retired machinist and U.S. Navy veteran from Cut Bank, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Glacier County Care Center in Cut Bank of natural causes.

Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Whitted Funeral Chapel of Cut Bank is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife Mary Krapf of Cut Bank; daughter, Linda (Dana) Williams of Salt Lake City; son, Mark (Cathy) Krapf of Cut Bank; a sister, Dorothy Johnson of Burbank, Calif.; grandsons, Karl Krapf of Bozeman, Kyle Krapf of Casper, Wyo., Kody Krapf of Cut Bank and Jesse Williams and Perry Williams both of Salt Lake City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a cousin Gretchen Frantzich.

He was born August 4, 1922, to Karl B. and Julia (Eyth) Krapf in Enterprise, Kan. When John was a child, the family moved to Cut Bank where he grew up and graduated from high school. He attended Montana State College in Bozeman for one year and entered the U.S. Navy where he served as a flight instructor from 1942-1946. He then attended the University of Colorado in Boulder where he graduated with a degree in education.

While in college, he met Mary Elizabeth Knodle and they were married June 18, 1950, in Marshalltown, Iowa. They moved to Cut Bank where John worked at and later took over the family oilfield machine shop. After retiring in 1984, they traveled around the country extensively and spent their winters in Tucson, Ariz.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, a past member of the hospital board and the Jaycees, was a 50-year member of the Cut Bank Elk's Lodge No. 1632; a 50-year, 32-degree member of Cut Bank Masonic Lodge No. 82 and Tri-County Shrine Club and Al Bedoo Temple; a 50-year member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity of the University of Colorado, a member of the Good Sam Club, the Glacier Penguins and a member of the Montana Pilots Association.

He enjoyed working with stained glass, snowmobiling, boating, traveling in his motor home, golfing, motorcycling, talking on his C.B. radios, lapidary and flying.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Peters Funeral Home.He was born June 11, 1952 in Dallas, Texas, to Hubert Walden and Helen Brewster. He was married to Tammy Bartlett Walden for 19 years.He is survived by his wife, Tammy B. Walden of Greenville; son, Brian Walden of Greenville; mother, Helen Self of Winnsboro; father, Hubert Walden of Greenville; sisters, Janice Kahler of Winnsboro and Linda Singleton of Louisville, Ky.; and brother, David Walden of Pinedale, Wyo.He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Walden.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Greenville, 4320 Lee Street, Greenville, TX 75401.
