investigated when a man was found passed out in a vehicle with an assault rifle in his lap at the Old Steel Bridge at about 1:30 a.m. Friday. Two more guns were found; he and his weapons were given a ride home.

It was a violent night, with an abundance of assaults and threats.

A man denied following another man around the Batavia area. On Capistrano Drive, threats were reported over barking dogs. One man went to the hospital after a fight in the jail. A man was charged with felony assault with a weapon after reportedly striking another man with a cue stick at the Garden Bar. A witness said a man was beating a woman in a car on U.S. 2 east of Kalispell.

A man in a beard with spiky hair caused concern by the way he kept returning to Korner Kitchen and hovering around.

A report of a picnic table stolen at the Silver Bullet bar led a deputy to a man on Lake Blaine Road. The man was charged with DUI. Another driver was charged with DUI near the Blue Moon bar.

A door was kicked open at Klingler Lumber. There was a theft theme with the man who reportedly stole beer at Super 1 and drove away in a vehicle listed as stolen from Kansas City.

Someone abandoned a broken-down vehicle right in the traffic lane of U.S. 2 west of Kalispell Thursday night. A 1989 Chevy Blazer was reported stolen from Greenwood Trailer Park.

A backhoe was vandalized on Farm to Market Road. A house was hit with eggs on Mission Trail. A large rock was thrown at a window at Mountain Villa Apartments.

A stereo system was reported stolen from Cottonwood Homes. There is a suspect in the theft of surveying equipment in the valley. CDs stolen from a vehicle at Ridgewood Drive are worth $1,500, according to the owner.

A deputy talked to a parent about the wisdom of letting a young boy go into a vacant home with two transients.
