Forrest Kendall 'Kenny' Burland, 79

Forrest Kendall "Kenny" Burland, 79, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at Brendan House in Kalispell.

He was born Jan. 6, 1926, in Polson, to Thomas Bell and Adeline (Dupuis) Burland. Kenny spent his early years in Polson, going to school through the ninth grade.

He joined the Army Air Corps on Sept. 19, 1945, and served in radio communications, mostly in Japan, until 1947, when he received an honorable discharge. He came back to Polson and worked two years, then re-enlisted in the Army for another three years. When he returned to Polson, he became partners in the Burland Saw Mill east of Ronan with his older brother Frank.

About the early '70s Kenny moved to Drummond, and then to Lincoln where he had his own saw mill. During this time he married Elvira E. Shultz in 1975.They moved to Kalispell, where he worked at C & C Plywood, Kalispell Post and Pole, and was also a welder and worked construction.

Kenny was a member of the Eagles and Elks. He enjoyed boating and would go to the Baja Peninsula with his motor home to enjoy the coast. He also enjoyed hunting in his younger years.

With his passing at age 79, he was the last of 14 children of John Thomas and Adaline Burland.

He lived a full life and his family sends him on his way with love and tenderness.

He is survived by one special nephew, Dick Burland, and wife, Robin, and family of Polson; and other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services for Kendall "Kenny" Burland will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, in the Johnson Mortuary Chapel.Burial will follow at Glacier Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at Johnson Mortuary Chapel.
