Burton takes title

EDMONTON, Alberta - Shelley Burton of Kalispell decisioned Laura Ramsey of Florida in a 10-round world title bout Friday night at the Shaw Conference Center.

There were no knockdowns in the fight. Two referees gave Burton the edge, 97-93, while a third ruled it a tie, 95-95.

Burton, holding a career record of 7-2 with one knockout, is the WIBA Intercontinental Super Middleweight champion.

Burton was originally scheduled to face Leatita Robinson of Chicago in a super middleweight bout, but Robinson was not medically cleared to fight.
