Some drivers were no match for snow and icy roads in the valley, beginning at about 5:50 p.m. Sunday. There were no serious injuries, but there were some impressive accidents. A slide-in north of the landfill on U.S. 93 began the events. A vehicle went down an embankment near Happy Valley Baptist Church on U.S. 93. There was an accident on Tamarack Lane and a slide-in Montana 40. Several vehicles were reported in the ditch on Haywire Gulch. A truck and trailer jackknifed on Whitefish Stage Road. There was an accident on Willow Glen and a rollover on Montana 35 north of Creston. A vehicle was stuck in a ditch on Columbia Falls Stage Road, and a vehicle on its top on U.S. 93 north or Reserve Drive turned out to be a snowmobile trailer.

On River Road near Columbia Falls, a vehicle reportedly flew over an embankment into a tree. There were injuries in a Monday morning crash on Truman Creek Road, where a person went to the hospital and a dog was taken to a veterinarian's office.

A hunter missing in the Trego area called to say he was safe just an hour after he was reported missing Sunday. Threatening calls were reported on Elk Park Road.

A keyboard, guns, and DVD players were among the items scavenged from a home on Airport Road while the residents were gone. A wallet was taken from a vehicle on Aspen Loop. Whoever removed a battery from a vehicle on Whitefish Stage Road wanted it badly enough to cut some wires to take it.

A man who was reportedly assaulted at Montana Village refused medical attention.

A window was broken at Flathead Industries in Bigfork.
