COLUMBIA FALLS - Keith Appleton scored his first goal of the season and Dustin Gibson, Guy Smith and D.J. Stoneman all followed with two apiece as Columbia Falls whipped Bigfork 7-0 Saturday in Northern A soccer play.

Columbia Falls, 4-0 in league and 7-1-2 overall, led 3-0 at the break.

"We've been scoring a lot of goals, but all our goals have come late," said Columbia Falls coach Peter Browne.

"We were able to get on the board (early), scoring three goals in the first half. That relaxed the boys a little bit. It was good to see."

Prior to that, Browne said the Wildcats were not "closing out games until the last 10-15 minutes. It's been stressful for me and the kids."

Columbia Falls outshot Bigfork, 23-1.

"By far the best game we've played this season," said Browne. "Cory Pete, Guy Smith and Jake Bengtson controlled the middle, controlled the whole tempo of the game."
