Fiesta Days' chili cook-off is today

Whitefish heads south of the border for Fiesta Days. Come sample the best chili in town and vote for your favorite. The chili cook-off is from noon to 2 p.m. today downtown on Central Avenue. The cost is $3.50 a cup for all you can eat.

Whitefish carnival scheduled today

Children's House Montessori School of Whitefish hosts it annual Pumpkin Patch Kids Carnival beginning at 11 a.m. today at Credit Union Park. Festivities include games, prizes, a fishing booth, face painting, cake walks and more.

Pumpkins, baked goods, soups, fresh bread and freshly pressed cider also will be available for purchase, along with books, videos and costumes.

Adopt a cat or kitten today

The Cat Adoption Center at the Flathead Spay and Neuter Clinic has cats and kittens available for adoption from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.

All cats have been abandoned or are strays, have been spayed or neutered and vaccinated, and are well socialized. The adoption fee is $25 a cat. Ski Club's swap, sale at fairgrounds

Kalispell Ski Club's annual Ski Swap and Sale gets under way from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Flathead County Fairgrounds. Proceeds from the sale will go to the club's Learn to Ski Program.

Free car inspection if you help Food Bank

Loren's Auto Repair is offering free pre-winter car inspections today only in exchange for a bag of groceries for the Flathead Food Bank.

Certified technicians will be on hand from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to inspect your battery, antifreeze, belts and hoses, and lights and wipers, while you wait in a comfortable waiting room and enjoy some refreshments.
