Two get prison time for assaults

Two men convicted of assaults were sentenced Thursday in District Court.
Larry Lindberg, 44, won't be eligible for parole for 20 years or until he completes a sex offender evaluation and recommendations, which ever takes longer. That's for his conviction for sexual intercourse without consent.
District Judge Kitty Curtis also sentenced Lindberg to two 40-year sentences, which will run concurrently with each other, for felony sexual assault charges. For a misdemeanor charge of sexual assault, Lindberg received a six-month sentence.
A jury in July found Lindberg guilty of molesting two girls, beginning when they were 10 and 5 years old. Lindberg denied committing the crimes and the girls' mother refused to believe one child when she told her, according to testimony.
Lindberg faced up to 300-1/2 years in prison.
Also in July, Rodney Edmundson pleaded guilty to assault with a weapon. Five other charges against him
were dropped in exchange for his guilty plea.
Edmundson, 32, was arrested in February after a report that he sexually assaulted a woman at gunpoint and brandished a gun at three other people. He was charged with attempted sexual intercourse without consent, aggravated kidnapping, and four counts of assault with a weapon.
A woman told police that that Edmundson sexually assaulted her in her car behind a motel. She reportedly fled into a casino.
Two men also reported that Edmundson waved a gun and said he was going to rob people who "disrespected" him and then threatened them. A truck driver also reported being subjected to the same behavior from Edmundson.
District Judge Kitty Curtis sentenced Edmundson to 10 years in prison, with five suspended. Before the other charges were dropped, he faced up to 280 years in prison.
