Alfred C. Rierson, 86

Alfred C. Rierson, 86, passed away Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell.

He was born Oct. 24, 1918, in Rhame, N.D., to Nels and Anna Rierson.

Al was inducted in the U.S. Army on April 26, 1942, and separated Dec. 19, 1944. After returning from the service, he farmed for a short time in Sheridan County, Montana.

On June 24, 1947, Al married Jacqueline K. Radons in Plentywood.

Al went to work in Columbia Falls as a highway patrolman in January 1949 and continued for 25 and a half years. He then worked for the Flathead County Sheriff's Department for eight years, retiring in 1983 to enjoy 17 years as a snowbird. Al and Jackie also enjoyed the beautiful Flathead Valley. This past June, they celebrated 58 years together, at their daughter's home.

Al was always very active in the community and was a longtime member of the Kalispell Lions Club.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and one sister.

He is survived by his wife at the family home; two daughters, Janis Conner and husband, Dennis, of Great Falls, and Barbara Pascoe and husband, Tim, of Kalispell; one son, Ron Rierson and wife, Kirby, of Kalispell; a sister, Gladys Benedict of Great Falls; seven grandchildren, Heather Wiensch and husband, Brett, of Helena, Karrie Sherman and husband, Mark, of Kalispell, Jennifer, Mike and James Conner, all of Great Falls, and Chad and Corey Campbell of Kalispell; and three great grandchildren, Danielle Wiensch and Ashley Wiensch, both of Helena, and Becca Sherman of Kalispell.

Visitation for Al will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., today, Saturday, Oct. 15, in the Johnson Mortuary Chapel. Private family services will be held.
