Cecil 'Jack' Stokes, 88

Cecil "Jack" Stokes, 88, passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Cecil was born Aug. 12, 1917, in Fletcher, Okla., to William and Alice (Carter) Stokes.

Cecil graduated in Lawton, Okla., then moved to California with his family in 1936. He worked on an assembly line as a welder for GMC in California.

He married his wife, Bernice, in 1941. Cecil served in the U.S. Army in aircraft maintenance during World War II and was honorably discharged.

He moved to the Flathead Valley in the early 1950s where he farmed for a short time, then worked as a welder for the Burlington Northern Tie Plant until his retirement.

In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working with horses and dogs. After retirement, he took up golf and playing pool.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Bernice.

He is survived by his sister Nettie Stokes of Lakeview Care Center in Bigfork and his "extended" family of friends.

At his request no services will be held and cremation has taken place.

The family requests memorials to the Lakeside QRU.
