Alice Anna Beringer, 86, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, at Brendan House in Kalispell.

She was born on Oct. 1, 1919, in Plentywood, to Charles and Alma (Halverson) Yeager. Alice graduated from high school and attended nurse's school in Great Falls.

She married Andrew Beringer, Dec. 26, 1937, in Plentywood. She and Andy moved to Conrad, where Andy was a farmer east of Conrad. They moved then to Mansion, eight miles north of Conrad. They farmed there until 1963. In 1963, they moved to Kila, and bought a cattle ranch. They sold the ranch in 1972, moving to Kalispell where they lived until Andy's death in 1997.

She worked as a licensed practical nurse at Kalispell Regional Hospital for 20 years. After Andy's death, Alice moved to the Elm's Apartments until she entered Brendan House in 2004. Alice loved living at the Elms. She treasured her friends there and was also very thankful for all their help and caring.

She was a member of the nurse's association, the senior citizen center board, and was on bowling leagues. She loved gardening, bowling, fishing, camping, play cards, crossword puzzles and reading. She was very devoted to her family, loving holidays and family gathering. She had a stroke in October of 2004 and was "called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ one year later." The family will miss her a lot but "knowing she is well and living in her heavenly body with God gives us comfort."

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and all her sisters and brothers.

She is survived by her four children, Alden Beringer and Mavis Heitmann and husband, Jerry, all of Kalispell, Richard Beringer and wife, Rosie, of North Bend, Wash., and Calvin Beringer and wife, Terri, of Maple Valley, Wash.; five grandchildren, Kent Heitmann and wife, Betty, of Kalispell, Roxanne Swartzenberger and husband, John, of Kalispell, Richard Beringer II of North Bend, Darrin Beringer and wife, Barbara, of Hamilton, and Kim Martin and husband, Andrew, of Redmond, Wash.; 11 great-grandchildren, Travis and Sareece Heitmann, Candice, John, Bailey and Tony Swartzenberge, Emily, Jacob and William Beringer, also Jennifer and Megin Martin.

Memorial services for Alice Anna Beringer will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry Stappler officiating. There will be no visitation. Urn burial will follow the service at Glacier Memorial Gardens in Kalispell, Montana.

Johnson Mortuary and Crematory is caring for Alice's family.
