It sounded like water spurting from a hydrant or maybe a fire crackling, according to a caller on Bear Run Road. When a Flathead County Sheriff's Office deputy went to investigate, it turned out to be plastic sheeting on a construction job being blown around by a strong wind.

Active construction was under way at 2 a.m. Wednesday on U.S. 2 East, when a deputy suggested neighbors might like to get some sleep and if the hammering and nail-gun sounds continued, citations would follow.

On Aero Lane, someone tried to get into a girl's window.

In Martin City, people reportedly surrounded a house at 4 a.m., opening windows and harassing the occupants.

The Highway Patrol made the arrest after a report that someone in a green car decided to show a rifle to other drivers.
