Catch a homegrown thriller

| October 28, 2005 1:00 AM

Two local filmmakers are presenting their premiere film, Roulette at the OShaughnessy Center in Whitefish on Oct. 31.

Times for the Halloween-night thriller are 5 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6.

Roulette is a psychological thriller about five characters who engage in a fatal game of Russian roulette.

The characters are: Pete, a dark cynic interested in the metaphysical; Paul, an awkward and nerdy teenager with an infatuation with planes and trying to fit in; Amy, distraught after discovering her boyfriend has left her; Troy, a womanizing Hollywood clich; and Scott, an effeminate man determined to prove his machismo.

After the inevitable death of one of the players, panic leads to terror as they devise a plan to cover up the death as a suicide lest they implicate themselves in murder or be suspected as accessories to the act. Exactly one year later, the guilt-ridden survivors find themselves stalked by their dead friend's vengeful spirit.

Whitefish locals, Adam Pitman and Adam Stilwell, and friend David Blair of Grangeville, Idaho, founded Badfritter Films and began filming Roulette in Los Angeles last year. On a shoestring budget, they worked together to create and direct the screenplay and film the production.

The films sound was mixed in Whitefish by sound engineer Toby Scott. It also includes music by Whitefish locals Ed Wrzesien, Adam Stilwell and Jibran Bisharat.

Roulette is rated R for violence, language, and adult subject matter.
