County seeks applicants for boards, committees

The Flathead County Planning Office is accepting applications for a variety of openings on different planning boards and land-use advisory committees.
All of these positions are appointed by the county commissioners.
The openings are:
-Flathead County Planning Board Three positions with two-year terms running from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2007.
Applicants must live outside of the planning jurisdictions of Kalispell, Whitefish or Columbia Falls.
This board provides recommendations to the county commissioners about subdivision proposals, zone changes, growth-policy amendments and other planning applications.
-Flathead County Board of Adjustment Three positions with two-year terms from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2007.
Applicants must live in the county, but outside of the zoning jurisdictions of Kalispell, Whitefish or Columbia Falls.
This board has the authority to grant variances to planning regulations and approve conditional-use permits or zoning variances.
-Columbia Falls City-County Planning Board Two positions with two-year terms running from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2007.
Applicants must live within the Columbia Falls planning jurisdiction, but outside of the city limits.
This board provides recommendations to the Columbia Falls City Council about subdivision proposals, zone changes, growth-policy amendments and other planning applications.
-Whitefish City-County Planning Board Two positions with two-year terms running from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2007.
Applicants must live within the Whitefish planning jurisdiction, but outside of the city limits.
This board provides recommendations to the Whitefish City Council about subdivision proposals, zone changes, growth-policy amendments and other planning applications.
-Bigfork Area Land Use Advisory Committee Three positions; two with three-year terms and one member at-large with a one-year term. Terms begin Jan. 1.
Applicants must be resident freeholders who have lived in the Bigfork area for at least two years.
Land-use advisory committees provide recommendations to the county Planning Board regarding planning proposals within their jurisdictional areas.
-Helena Flats Land Use Advisory Committee Seven positions.
This is a new board, so members will draw lots to determine their terms of office; two four-year terms, two three-year terms, two two-year terms and one one-year term are available.
Applicants must reside within the boundaries of the Helena Flats Neighborhood Plan.
-Little Bitterroot Lake Land Use Advisory Committee Two positions with three-year terms.
One applicant must be a member of the Little Bitterroot Lake Association; one will be appointed by and represent Plum Creek Timber Co.
-Middle Canyon Land Use Advisory Committee One position with a three-year term.
Applicants must be live in the Middle Canyon Land Use Area, which includes Coram, Lake Five and West Glacier.
-Rogers Lake Land Use Advisory Committee Two positions with four-year terms.
One position for an off-lake landowner; the other is for an on-lake landowner.
-West Valley Land Use Advisory Committee Three positions with three-year terms.
Applicants must be property owners within the West Valley district or represent businesses within the district.
