Warren Miller releases his 56th winter sports film

Celebrate the onset of winter and the thrill of action sports with Higher Ground, the 56th annual Warren Miller movie at the OShaughnessy Center in Whitefish on Nov. 4-5.

Show times are 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. both days.

Higher Ground crisscrosses the globe, hitting the steeps of Alaska, terrain parks in Colorado, deep powder in British Columbia and cliffs in Switzerland and brings skiing and snowboarding to life on the big screen as no other action sports film has done before.

The screening is a fund-raising event for the Flathead Valley Ski Education Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to making Big Mountain winter youth sport activities accessible to as many local athletes as possible.

Since its inception in 1973, the foundation has provided over 150 scholarships to local athletes who otherwise would not have been able to participate in winter sports.Door prizes, raffle tickets and refreshments will all be part of the festivities.

Part action/adventure, part documentary, Higher Ground also features legendary athletes such as skiers Jeremy Nobis and Seth Morrison, Ski-BASE jumping innovator Shane McConkey, and the sports hot-dogging icon, Glen Plake, as well as up and coming stars like 5-year-old phenom Bridger Gile.

Tickets are $12 for adults; $7 for youth 18 and under.

Tickets available in Whitefish at Ski Mountain Sports, Sportsman Ski Haus; in Kalispell at Sportsman Ski Haus, OShaughnessy Center ticket office or at the door.
