Ralph A. Micone, 82

Ralph A. Micone, 82, passed on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls. He was born June 23, 1923, in Susanville, Calif., the son of Patrick and Mary Louise (Laurella) Micone.

Ralph attended schools in Susanville and graduated from Susanville High School. In 1943, he entered the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served as an airplane mechanic until his discharge in 1946.

On Feb. 27, 1944, he was united in marriage to Betty Loucks in Reno, Nev. For many years, he worked at the Tahoe Timber Lumber Company in Reno. He later went to work for the city of Reno, working on the street crew, repairing the streets as well as concrete work. After their retirement, Ralph and Betty relocated to Hot Springs, Mont., where he enjoyed doing the things he loved most: hunting, fishing and camping. Later, they returned to Nevada, moving to Winnemucca. They moved back to Montana in November of 2004, moving to Kalispell. Family was a big part of his life, mostly spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Micone, of Kalispell; two sons, David Micone and wife, Judy, of Kalispell, and Ralph D. Micone and wife, Heidi, of Reno; two sisters, Violet Sella and husband, Harry, of Susanville, Calif.; and Violet Pearl and husband, Mel, of Reno; a brother, Albert Micone and wife, Falba, of Susanville, Calif.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Ralph will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Mortuary.
