Ann J. Emett, 93

Ann J. Emett, 93, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell of natural causes.

She was born April 7, 1912, in Kolin, Mont., to Charles and Anna Hodik, the fifth of eight children. She attended schools in Lewistown.

Ann married Archie Desy in November 1931. He preceded her in death in 1947.

Ann was head of the fashion department of Montgomery Ward in Lewistown. She moved to Butte in 1950, where she took a clerking position at Burrs Department Store.

Ann married Elden Emett in 1956; he preceded her in death in 1991. Together they developed and built the Indian Trail Lodge and Cabins at the Gates of the Mountains in Helena. They retired in 1968 and traveled extensively, then chose to winter in Arizona.

Ann had a God-given talent for art and fancy work; she won numerous ribbons for fancy work at the fairs.

She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Pacheco and her husband, John, of Whitefish, and Betty Ann Simonich of Whitehall; grandchildren, John and Tom Pacheco of Whitefish, Debbie Lemcke of Wenatchee, Wash., Donnie Pacheco of Seattle, Michael Spackman of Whitehall, and Michelle Perry of Billings; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by five stepchildren.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Charles Boromeo Catholic Church in Whitefish at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, with the Rev. Pat Patton officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Mountain View Cemetery in Butte, with the Rev. Dan Driscoll officiating.
