BUTTE - Five second-half goals carried Flathead to a 6-0 Class AA boys soccer victory over Butte on Saturday.

Flathead led 1-0 on Eric Narduzzi's goal, which came at the 34-minute mark.

Kellen Murray, who assisted on the first score, Luke Fischer, Jeremy DeHerrera (2) and Sean Riley all scored goals in the final half.

"With water standing in puddles ankle deep and in a steady rain, (we) sloshed to an easy win," said FHS coach Tom McFarlane.

"Because of a bus delay, we had 15 minutes to warm up and got a slow start to a ragged first half."

McFarlane said Zach Brenneman, Nicho Hash and Wes Hays "were solid in defense."

Flathead finished with a big edge in shots on goal, 16-4, and corner kicks, 6-0.

The Braves, 4-0-1 league and 5-0-1 overall, host Missoula Hellgate on Thursday, 5 p.m.

BUTTE - A pair of goals in each half carried Flathead to a Class AA girls soccer victory Saturday over Butte.

Mikenna Marone and Jelisa Guy both scored in the first half while Megan Rice accounted for both scores in the final half.

The Bravettes outshot Butte 33-2 and led in corner kicks, 7-1.

It was the fourth shutout of the season for the FHS girls. The Bravettes have allowed just two goals to date.

"Our defense is playing well," said FHS coach Scott Warnell.

The two teams played the entire match in a steady rain on a very chilly afternoon. The Bravettes also had to contend with a bus trip delay.

"The major problem for us today is we just overlooked Butte," said Warnell.

"We didn't come out with much intensity. Butte went to the ball hard today."

The Bravettes, 6-0 overall and 5-0 in league, host Missoula Hellgate on Thursday, 3 p.m.
