Kalispell police

| September 18, 2005 1:00 AM

A man who walked out of the Idaho Town Pump, allegedly without paying for some items, ended up in a standoff with Kalispell police Friday night.

When officers responded to the theft report, they found the man in a nearby van, and he refused to get out. As the stalemate continued, police got information indicating that the man in the van was a violent offender, but later, police learned that he was not.

After about three hours, past midnight, the man agreed to get out of the vehicle. Jerry Grindstaff, 54, was arrested and charged with theft.

There was a report of people "dressed in black" at Depot Park Friday night - several males holding up signs saying, "Satan Lives."

At around the same time at the corner of Depot Park, a person reported that a woman stopped her car at Main Street and Center Street, getting out and throwing "dozens of eggs" at him and other people. The woman, described as being in her 30s or 40s, apparently had good aim: the caller said he was hit by at least eight eggs.

It was unclear if the woman's targets were the people dressed in black.

Just after 10 p.m., a man reported that four kids in a car threw something at him, possibly rocks, near the Hampton Inn on West Idaho.

A man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and violating probation after a traffic stop on Third Avenue East and 12th Street East.

A teenage boy was arrested for probation violation after a traffic stop near Rosauer's on U.S. 93 South.
