WHS downs Valkyries

BIGFORK - Whitefish's leading scorer couldn't find the net, but it didn't really matter as Kari Rounds, Jen Joern, Carmel Johnston and Alyssa Clark did as the Bulldogs posted a 5-1 Class A Northern Division soccer victory over Bigork on Tuesday.
Round had two goals, one in each half, as Whitefish moved to 3-0 in league games, 5-1-1 overall.
Johnston and Clark also had assists in the match.
"I think to Bigfork's credit, they are improved and played very aggressively," said WHS coach Lini Reading.
"We didn't play with a whole lot of intensity in the first half, didn't move the ball."
Reading said the Bulldogs slowed it down and possessed the ball better in the final half.
In the first meeting of the season, Whitefish beat Bigfork, 11-0.
"We missed a lot of scoring opportunities," said Reading.
Whitefish outshot Bigfork, 26-2.
"We just couldn't find the net," said Reading.
White came into the match leading WHS in scoring, eight goals, and in assists, eight.
"Missed wide a couple of times, high a couple of times and sent it to the keeper a couple of times," said Reading of White's attempts.
"She played well, that just happens."
Whitefish is back in action Saturday at Stevensville while Bigfork visits Libby.
