Flathead County Sheriff

| September 22, 2005 1:00 AM

The Flathead County Sheriff's Office was busy with neighbors and domestic partners who couldn't get along.

On Hodgson Road, a woman said her neighbor thought she was driving too fast and came out waving an ax at her. Not so, he said. He was working in his garden and just happened to have a Pulaski in his hands.

On Silverleaf Drive, a resident complained to a hammering neighbor that the noise was keeping his children awake and got some abuse for his trouble. On Falcon Acres Loop, a report of a burglary and garbage dumped everywhere turned out to be a dispute between neighbors. A neighbor's dog on Shady Lane reportedly howled for two days straight, but was quiet when a deputy arrived. At Shady Lane Trailer Court, two neighbors clashed over their dogs fighting.

It wasn't just people at each other's throats: A dog and a skunk had a standoff on Terrace Drive.

A deputy had to tell Mike that his bike-riding, beer-drinking presence isn't welcome at the Echo Lake Store.

A theft of money a year ago at a Bigfork business was reported Tuesday.

A man got out of a four-door Subaru on U.S. 93 to relieve himself; the mother of children nearby was not relieved about what they saw.

On South Cedar Drive, two people reportedly tried to steal a dog. There was a report of people trying to break into a vehicle at Sunrise Rock Lane, but it was just a couple of self-appointed detectives, trying to find a vehicle involved in a shooting early Wednesday.

A black bear was reported on River Road. A black bear was killed by a vehicle on Springcreek Road near Lakeside.

Two men caused concern by their behavior at Holiday Station, but they did nothing illegal. Later Wednesday morning at Wal-Mart, two men had beer and one had an urge to curl up in a shopping cart and go to sleep - also unwelcome behavior.
