Does the prospect of paying for your high school senior's college next year strike terror in your heart?

Never fear.

Columbia Falls High School guidance counselors Doug Cordier, Terry Guidi and Barb Norlander are ready with vital information to get you through the ordeal.

At 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, the team invites parents to an informational meeting targeting college and vocational school planning.

It will be held in the school's Little Theatre.

Topics will include the senior year timeline, the admissions process, SAT and ACT testing issues, what parents can do to help in the process, cost-saving programs and ideas, and other issues with the admissions and enrollment process.

Cordier said that in his 14 years as a high school counselor, he's found that most parents want to help their children get to a post-high-school training program. That can mean vocational or technical training, as well as community college or four-year college.

The biggest barrier can be simply that they don't have access to information that helps a high school graduate make the most of opportunities in the post-secondary world.

Parents going through the college planning process for the first time are especially invited.

For more information, call Cordier at 892-6500, ext. 230.
